The Breakdown

"PDX to Seattle - 174 Miles, apx. 3 hours.
Seattle to Spokane - 279 miles, apx. 4 hours.
Spokane to Missoula - 197 miles, apx. 3 hours.
Missoula to SLC - 525 miles, apx. 7.5 hours.
SLC to Grand Junction - 283 miles, apx. 5 hours.
Grand Junction to Santa Fe - 387 miles, apx 8 hours.
Santa Fe to Albuquerque - 64 miles, apx 1 hour.
Albuquerque to Phoenix (area) - 465 miles, Apx. 7 hours.
Phoenix (area) to LA (area) - 372 miles, apx. 6 hours.
LA (area) to San Fransisco (area) - 382 miles, apx. 6 hours.
San Fransisco (area) to Eugene - 528 miles, apx. 8.5 hours.
Eugene to Portland - 109 miles, apx. 2 hours.

TOTAL MILES - 3,783.

All of this is what googlemaps spit out at me. We should probably tack
(at least) an hour on to each of those times just to be safe
(considering traffic conditions may not be ideal, or we get lost, or
whatever).

High estimate of gas cost= apx. 3783 miles/10apx.MPG x $4.5/g =
$1,702.35/2 bands = apx. $851.18 per band for gas."

-Hannah Armstrong in an email approximating the worst-case scenario cost of gas. I Emphasize WORST CASE. But still, YIKES!

We kick off our tour August 2nd! (This Saturday) LESS THAN ONE WEEK! See you there!

What We Know

There are quite a lot of things we do not know, going into this tour. We have never been on tour before, and have only played outside of our city, Portland, once. So I will start off with the things we DO know, as that list is much smaller and manageable.

Our tour will be a joint tour with the fantastic band The Hand That Bleeds (whom you will hear much about in the coming weeks) with the goal of promoting our split 12" vinyl (and soon to be released CD version) we are releasing together.

We kick off our tour August 2, 2008 in Portland, Oregon. The venue is called Backspace. All ages. Five bucks. We haven't finialized the line up of the bands who are going to play with us. Possibly there will be an all-out all-night after party after the show. But we do not KNOW that yet.

Then On August 6, we will hit the road. Our path will be as follows:

We also know and are aware of this. Five years ago, another band from Portland was on tour, coming home, and wrecked their van, killing everyone but one person. On the Five year anniversary, yet another Portland band got into a car wreck and everyone was rushed to the hospital with broken bones and injuries. This scares us just a little, especially since I just finished watching Final Destination (both 1 and 2.) Despite this, I can speak for everyone, we are all extremely excited to get out on the road, and with luck we will make it back home with our bodies and guitars in one piece.

Stay tuned and stay sick,
-Emily Galash
